Mr. Halvar Wallin
1917 -
Inducted 1998
Vikings Soccer Club

Born September 23, 1917 in Brandstorp, Sweden, Halvar started playing at a very early age where it soon became apparent that he was a very talented player playing for his hometown team IFK. He played with their Men's first team at the age of 16. Since there was no "professional" league in Sweden in the late 1930's - early 1940's, Halvar played on several clubs through his career which included playing for Jonkoping Sodra IF of the Swedish First Division. He also received an invitation to try out for the Swedish National Team. In 1960 Halvar and his family immigrated to the United States and joined the Vikings Soccer Club in Salt Lake City, where he played until he retired from the game except for a two-year period in the 1960's when he was a player/coach for the Hollandia Soccer Club. Halvar received the "Utah Sportsman of the Year" award in 1975 for his lifelong dedication and sportsmanship to the game of soccer.
